The sacrifice and service of veterans in Berry and Lake Conjola will be further commemorated and recognised with Berry RSL Sub-Branch and Lake Conjola Bowling and Recreation Club sharing in $1.5 million from the Morrison Joyce Government.
Minister for Veterans’ Affairs and Defence Personnel Andrew Gee has announced the 129 recipients of the latest round of Saluting Their Service grants, with applications covering a wide range of ideas to honour the sacrifice of our nation’s servicemen and women.
“We are very proud to support Berry RSL Sub-Branch to deliver the publication of a book examining the experience of locals who served in the Second World War, and Lake Conjola Bowling Club and Recreation Club to install a new memorial at the club, helping the local community commemorate the service and sacrifice of those from the region who have given so much for our nation,” Minister Gee said.
“It’s clear from the number and calibre of applications that our communities continue to look for new and improved ways to commemorate the service of our veterans, with many exploring new technologies and reaching new audiences.
“We received a huge number of applications from ex-service organisations, local councils, schools, and historical societies which show just how important commemoration is to Australians.
“The Saluting Their Service grants program ensures Australia’s wartime history is preserved and the sacrifice of those who have served during wars, conflicts and peace operations is remembered.”
Senator for New South Wales Jim Molan said the commemorative project from Berry RSL Sub-Branch and Lake Conjola Bowling and Recreation Club would continue the tradition of remembrance, and he looks forward to seeing the finished work.
“I am extraordinarily proud of the history of service in Gilmore and this project is a wonderful way for us to commemorate and reflect on the sacrifice of all those who have served from our communities,” Senator Molan said.
Saluting Their Service is a national grants program and applications for the next round are now open. To submit your application, or find further details including a full list of successful grants, please go to the Saluting Their Service page on the Community Grants Hub website.
