WORKING FOR NSW

Drought Relief

Recognising that drought has always been a feature of Australian life, I support measures that will guarantee New South Wales farmers reliable access to water under any circumstances.

I urge farmers to seek help and explore what assistance they may be eligible for. For information on the services and support available please visit www.farmhub.org.au or contact the Department of Agriculture Drought Assistance Resources on 1800 900 090.

Defence and Veterans

I am a strong advocate for Australian sovereign defence capability, and an enthusiastic supporter of New South Wales industries’ contribution to the nation’s security. As Australia’s premier industrial state, New South Wales companies play a vital role in providing the cutting-edge equipment used by the Australian Defence Force.

More information on views regarding defence and national security matters can be found on my National Security Strategy page.

As a veteran, I continue to support individuals who have served in the Australian Defence Force. I am constantly engaging with veterans’ groups and individual veterans on a range of issues. I am honoured to be regularly invited to address RSL branches and other veteran groups around New South Wales.

We need to continue to support our ADF personnel as they transition into civilian life, as well as fight for issues our veterans face in their post-service lives.

I am proud to commemorate those who have lost their lives in the line of duty. I am honoured to be the patron of The Grub Club. This non-for-profit organisation strives to honour SGT Matthew Locke MG, who was a member of my body gaurd in Iraq and died in combat in Afghanistan. Visit The Grub Club Facebook page to find out more about the work of The Grub Club.

Bushfires

The 2020 bushfire season has been unprecedented. As a local RFS volunteer I witnessed the ferocity of the recent bushfires.  During the recent 2019-2020 Black Summer Fires and the 2018 Tathra bushfire, I have worked closely with State Governments and local communities to ensure that those affected receive the support they need to recover.

Information on disaster assistance can be found on the Australian Government’s Disaster Assist Website . Further information on services and support can be found at the National Bushfire Recovery Agency at the Federal level, and emergency.nsw.gov.au which is the website for NSW assistance.

In response to the Black Sumer Bushfires of 2019/20 The Royal Commission into National Natural Disaster Arrangements, commonly known as the ‘Bushfires Royal Commission’ was established in February 2020.

This Commission will examine the preparedness, response to disasters and recovery from disasters, as well as improving resilience and mitigating the impact of natural disasters. The Commission will deliver a final report by the end of August 2020.

COVID-19 Recovery Plan

The Morrison Government is focused on slowing the spread of COVID-19 to save lives, keeping Australians in jobs and supporting businesses.  Australians has shown what we can be achieved when we work together to help flatten the curve and to stop the spread of COVID-19.

To deal with the significant economic impacts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Morrison Government is investing over $260 billion to keep Australians in jobs, keep businesses in business, support households and keep investments flowing.

I strongly encourage people to download the COVIDsafe app. This app will allow health officials to notify you if you have come into close contact with someone who is diagnosed with COVID-19.

NSW Health has urged anyone that has any respiratory symptoms like a fever, cough, sore/scratchy throat or shortness of breath (even if very mild) to get a COVID-19 test and isolate themselves straight away. To find your nearest coronavirus testing centre in New South Wales, please click here.
